Abyssal Escape Killers: The Reported Roster, Phases and Playstyle Guide
Compare the five reported Abyssal Escape killers, their distinct kits and transformation patterns, with official and tester evidence clearly labeled.
The documented Abyssal Escape killers roster in the reviewed pre-release tester overview is X, Furnace, No More Innocence, Fleetway and 2017X. These are not five interchangeable pursuers: the reported designs include traps and clones, resource management, deception, aerial pressure and a major beast transformation. AverageX's October 12 roster and moveset overview.
The live Roblox listing directly names 2011x and Furnace, describes evolving killer phases and still labels the released game alpha. The complete five-name list above is therefore an attributed tester roster, supported by character-specific creator and community material, rather than a claim that this guide independently audited every current unlock in a public server. Research was checked on October 17, 2026. Official game listing.
The roster and the naming problems to avoid
The most confusing name is X. The creator uses X (THE DEITY) in an audio-upload title and The Deity / Crimson X in a social post. AverageX describes a 2011X variant of X, while the Roblox description itself names 2011x. Those sources establish connected terminology, but do not justify inflating the roster by counting every name and variant as a separate killer. Creator Deity upload, creator naming post.
| Reported roster entry | Main identity in reviewed material | Availability evidence to read carefully |
|---|---|---|
| X / The Deity | Trap, concealment and clone-focused killer | Creator naming; tester kit; live listing uses 2011x |
| Furnace | Heat-management killer | Explicitly named on the live listing; creator gameplay |
| No More Innocence / NMI | Deception followed by a replacement kit | Tester roster and gameplay; creator audio showcase |
| Fleetway | Flight, laser and grab pressure | Tester roster; creator preview and model evidence |
| 2017X | Speed-focused early form and Beast / Broken Face | Creator WIP gameplay and artist-confirmed beast model |
Two more distinctions keep the list useful. Broken Face is linked to 2017X's transformed presentation, not established as an extra selection slot. Metal Sonic is not established as a killer by the sources reviewed here. Custom survivors can resemble familiar characters, and a Metallic Charge clip should not be mistaken for a new killer announcement. 2017X / Broken Face creator upload, official custom-survivor description.
How the five reported playstyles differ
AverageX's kit overview gives a practical comparison without requiring a speculative tier list. X creates uncertainty through concealment and clones while using placed rings for hazards and movement. Furnace builds heat and spends it on tools that connect traversal and attacks. NMI uses screens and deception before shifting to a different late kit. Fleetway combines flight with ranged and grab pressure. 2017X changes from a speed-oriented pursuit to the beast kit. Tester comparison.
| Killer | Distinct reported tools | Main question for a new player |
|---|---|---|
| X | Hide and Seek, Ring Trap, Peekaboo | Can you use information and ring locations purposefully? |
| Furnace | Charge Heat, Thruster Flight, Claw Slash, Scorched Earth | Can you reserve heat for the next useful engagement? |
| NMI | TV travel, Deceit, Hallucination; later dash, springs and marking | Can you change your approach when the kit changes? |
| Fleetway | Flight, aimed laser, grab | Can you turn aerial access into useful positioning? |
| 2017X | Top Speed, Spin Dash, Obsession; later Roar, Jump and Grab | Can you learn two different pursuit patterns? |
These are learning questions, not official difficulty ratings. Someone comfortable with ranged aim may find Fleetway intuitive while another player prefers Furnace's resource planning. A deceptively simple ability can still require good target selection and map knowledge. An elaborate kit can become easier once its choices are understood.
The official channel's October 9 FURNACE Gameplay upload is a primary viewing reference. Its October 9 2017X (WIP) GAMEPLAY upload is equally useful with the WIP qualification preserved. Watching both can illustrate the different design directions, but older footage should not be used to publish current combat values without further verification. Furnace gameplay, 2017X WIP gameplay.
What the phase system changes
The official description says killers evolve into increasingly lethal phases as matches progress. The tester provides a more detailed pre-release explanation involving three phases linked to remaining match time. This guide does not supply exact current thresholds because those were not confirmed by a primary numerical reference. Official evolution system, tester phase overview.
More importantly, “phase” does not mean the same type of change for every killer. The tester describes substantial replacements for NMI and 2017X, but more incremental later improvements for Furnace and Fleetway. He is less certain about X's complete phase buffs, so a definitive “X never changes” claim would go beyond his evidence.
| Character | Later change reported by the tester | What to reassess |
|---|---|---|
| Furnace | Passive heat recovery in a later phase | Resource preparation and movement |
| Fleetway | Later speed improvement | Pursuit pacing and spacing |
| NMI | New kit replacing television traversal | Map access and the meaning of environmental objects |
| 2017X | Beast kit with changed attacks and movement | Attack shape, jump approaches and contact timing |
| X | Tester does not fully recall phase differences | Read present in-game information before concluding |
For survivors, this means an early successful route may become less reliable later. For killers, it means a transformation should trigger a fresh assessment of the tools available. Neither side benefits from assuming the rest of the match will behave exactly like its opening minute.
Choosing a killer without an invented tier list
A useful first choice is the mechanic you want to learn. Choose X to study placement and deceptive pressure, Furnace to study a shared resource, NMI to study uncertainty and a later kit replacement, Fleetway to study aerial positioning and aim, or 2017X to study the contrast between speed pursuit and a transformed attack package. Those suggestions follow the reported design; they are not claims of equal strength or current ranked performance.
Judge a match by more than kills. Did you interrupt productive survivor work? Did you change targets for a reason? Did the ability you spent improve your next position? Survivors can reduce the escape timer by dispelling red mist, so pressure has a relationship to objective progress as well as contact with one person. Official objective description.
Do not infer survivor abilities from their model. The game supports custom survivors and equipped abilities, making a familiar character cosplay an unreliable guide to the tools facing you. A robotic-looking survivor is not automatically a fixed Metal Sonic class, and an original-looking vessel is not necessarily mechanically different from a recognizable one.
Unlock prices, numerical damage, cooldowns and exact ability costs are intentionally absent here because no current authoritative sheet was verified. The same applies to a “best killer” ranking. Alpha changes and different survivor builds can alter how a matchup feels; one successful recording is not enough to establish a universal hierarchy.
Frequently asked questions
How many killers are in Abyssal Escape?
AverageX's October 12 pre-release tester overview lists five: X, NMI, 2017X, Furnace and Fleetway. The live description only names examples, so check the current selection screen for any later additions or availability changes. Tester roster.
Is Metal Sonic one of the killers?
No reviewed primary source establishes that. Searches can refer to a custom survivor's appearance or the community's Metallic Charge clips. Neither is enough to create a Metal Sonic killer entry.
Do all killers get new moves in phase three?
The tester's explanation says no. NMI and 2017X receive replacement kits, while Furnace and Fleetway are described with later improvements to their existing playstyles. The official page confirms evolution generally, without detailing every character's current changes.
Is 2011x separate from Deity or X?
The sources use overlapping labels: the official description names 2011x, the creator pairs X with The Deity, and the tester describes a 2011X variant. Consult the current menu before counting names as separate playable slots; the reviewed evidence does not resolve every live naming relationship.
